Long time no blog, I know! I've had lots of work lately and its been quite busy there! as soon as a few go home... a few come in! It's been pretty consistent LOL. I have 10 shifts left! TEN! Holy cow.... did it ever fly by! I'm SUPER excited to head home and visit with everyone, but I will miss everyone I've met here. Thank goodness for Facebook so I can keep in contact with everyone : ). So, 10 shifts and 24 days until I'm homeward bound WITH mom (but who's counting...? lol)! The flight is officially booked! I will be picking up my momma at the Winnipeg Airport bright and early Friday Aug 29th! I think we're going to do a night in Winnipeg and do some touristy things - definitely the Zoo and checking out the Forks (where the Red River and the Assiniboine meet). Any suggestions?! SO, I did a night shift last night, had a nap this morning and when Cindy got off work we decided to head to Melita. It was also "Banana Days" in Melita this weekend. A big weekend to celebrate the ginormous banana they had established to represent being the "banana belt" of Manitoba. Of course, that is, if Manitoba were to have a banana belt - which they don't... BUT if they did, then Melita would be it! HAHA seems a little funny eh! The banana is known as "Sunny" the banana and the bird on his arm is "Breezy" the blue jay. A quote to sum up Melita from the towns website: "Melita is not only the “Grasslands Birds Capital of Manitoba”, it is also a town with "A-peel". hehehehe how cheesy! When we got there, we just seemed to miss the "Mud Bogging" event in the park - looked pretty messy! We did the touristy thing and got pictures with the fruit and bird, and then drove through the town. Not a whole lot in the town, stopped and strolled through a store before we headed back to Virden. While on our way to Melita we came across a STUNNING field of Sun Flowers. They were just below waist high, so I think they have a ways to go, but they were big, bright and full. I've never seen such a huge field of them, it was beautiful. I got lots of pictures, and can't wait to check it out again before I leave, to see how big they get by the end of August! I'll post a bunch of pictures below : ) I've had some Brandon trips since I've last blogged. Checking out the mall, gone to a movie and looked through the city. There is this chain of cafe/ice cream shop called "Forbidden Flavours" - I'm not sure if we have them at home? I wish we did - because I can't get enough of they Cafe Forbidden. Its chocolatey with hazelnut espresso and whipped topping. I may indulge in it each time I go to Brandon.... Seeing as I won't be able to much longer - good excuse right?! I thought so! So next week, I have 4 nights in a row *yuck...* so I don't think I'll get too much touring in. But, Matt&Jamie will be back Thursday night! They came last Saturday night, and it was SOOOOOOO nice seeing someone from home : ) They had a long, long, LONG drive that day and didn't get here until 1030 at night, but we had a good visit and breakfast before they made they're way to Calgary Sunday morning. They'll be back here Thursday and hopefully a bit earlier in the day for some dinner out on a patio. I've been seeing some amazing pictures from their trip via BBM and can't wait to see the photos when they come Thursday! And, after those 4 night shifts, I'm going to the Virden Rodeo Social with some friends! Should be interesting and lots of fun! I will definitely have something to blog about after that! Can't wait! Until next time : ) hope everyone is well at home! I miss you all! and can't wait to get a bunch of visits in and get back working in LMH ER! <3 xoxoxox Enjoy the photos : ) |
